Butter is Better
Comment: The American owner and his Thai wife use the time-test recipes of his mother, and they are good! You will not find a better pie this side of America: flaky crust, fresh Granny Smith apples, and baked to perfection. Same goes for other baked goods, and an assortment of New York deli-style main course dishes. Figure 200 baht per person for an an unforgettable breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Loves Chocolate Guesthouse & Restaurant
Comment: Found on the bustling Moon Muang Road, this interesting little place, run by a friendly and welcoming Thai couple, is full of enticements, especially those with farang taste buds. A large selection of homemade ice creams greet you on your way through the door and with their large variety of flavours like rosella, adzuki bean and banana cashew nut caramel coffee. This goes for the display bursting with beautiful hand made chocolates imported from Belgium. Chocolate lovers will be thrilled with the selection including lychee, white chocolate and dark chocolate filled with ganache. The owner also bakes up an assortment of cakes including a lemon cheesecake which is simply divine. They also serve a variety of western and Thai dishes as well as pizza from Naples Pizzeria. The design elements are attention grabbing and include a lot of wood features to create a forest type atmosphere. Upstairs are two private rooms and one shared room which not only include new comfortable furnishings, but also cable tv, air con and balconies overlooking the moat. At 150 baht per person, it’s definitely a steal. The family’s grandmother is close by for anyone wanting to indulge in a foot or body massage.

Pizzamania
Comment: Pizzamania's refreshingly stress free prices, inviting family atmosphere, and above all, homey dishes puts you right at ease to enjoy a relaxing and yummy meal. The huge menu provides a choice for every family member with a variety of crisp salads, to an array of hearty steaks, pizzas and pastas. The fisherman's friend is highly recommended, a generous filet of salmon covered in a creamy mushroom sauce and topped with a liberal serving of melted cheese. The accompanying mashed potatoes is creamy textured with oft peaks of whipped perfection.

Smoothie Blues
Comment:
With multi-coloured decorative art and an outdoors cafe zone as well as air-coned interior, it is a welcome respite from the dank and dusty road-side rice stop. The eccentric (for CM at least) menu offers delectable salads, scrumptious sandwiches and an array of fine tasting desserts that actually taste better then the ones back home. The smoothies are delicious and come in every possible concoction of fruits and vegetables. Not surprisingly, Smoothie Blues attracts largely a western crowd; the prices are higher than most Thai places that try and emulate this style, nevertheless the end product is excellent.
